Mission and positioning

Why we are building one more VPN app – and how it deliberately differs from the rest.

Our mission

To make online privacy understandable and ordinary – a habit as natural as washing your hands or locking the door. Most people do not want to study protocols and server countries. They want to know that their data is protected in a café, on a trip and at home, and to understand how.

The name “Pravilny” (Russian for “right” or “proper”) is not arrogance – it is a commitment to do things properly: to explain honestly, to promise only what the app can do, and to respect the law and platform rules.

The problem we address

The VPN market is crowded with look-alike products: an enormous server list, a big “Connect” button and promises of “total anonymity”. Users cannot tell what is happening and cannot verify what they are promised. Many services live on advertising or questionable analytics, and their descriptions mislead.

We chose another path: an app for everyday digital hygiene, not for “getting around everything”.

How our positioning works

  • A situation, not a server. The user picks a scenario – public Wi-Fi, travel, remote work, family. The app suggests suitable settings.
  • Explanation instead of jargon. The “What is happening” screen shows in simple words what is encrypted, which country is used and where the protection ends.
  • Honest limits. A VPN does not make a person anonymous, does not protect against viruses and does not replace common sense. We say so plainly – in the app and on this site.
  • Lawfulness as a condition. We do not promote breaking the law, piracy, fraud or bypassing the rules of third-party services. This is written into the terms of use.

Our commitments to users and to the platform

  • We do not sell user data and do not pass it to ad networks or data brokers.
  • We do not show ads based on your activity and do not use advertising SDKs for tracking.
  • We use iOS VPN functionality only for its stated purpose – protecting the user’s own network connection – and disclose this on first launch.
  • We describe the app, its capabilities and its limits in the App Store exactly as on this site: without exaggeration.
  • We offer a simple way to contact us and to delete data.

Who Pravilny VPN is not for. If you need guaranteed total anonymity, ways around the law or the rules of services, or “unlimited access to everything”, this is not our product – and we will not pretend otherwise.

Where we are heading

We are developing more scenarios (new situations and more precise hints), improving the “What is happening” screen and publishing plain-language explanations: how encryption works, why open networks are risky, how to protect a family. Suggestions are welcome at support@pravilnyvpn.com.

Try the “proper VPN” approach
